Can you fly on Delta with an oxygen concentrator?

Yes. If you follow the right steps, you can fly on Delta with a portable oxygen concentrator (POC).

Here are some details about using oxygen while flying with Delta:
  • Delta (and most other airlines) only allows owned or rented FAA-approved POCs.
  • Delta requires at least 48 hours advance notice that you’re bringing a medical device.
  • Delta does not allow liquid or compressed oxygen on Delta flights.
  • You cannot sit in an exit row or bulkhead if you’re using your POC on the flight.
  • Your POC does not count as carry-on luggage.
To bring your FAA-approved POC into the Delta cabin, you’ll need to complete the POC-Approval and Battery Approval Request form, which you can find on their website. Submit your form no later than 48 hours before your flight. You should receive confirmation that your form was accepted. Bring a copy of your completed form with you on board.

Batteries

Like most airlines, Delta requires you to bring enough battery power for 150% of your cumulative flight time. However, if you’re not using your POC during your flight, you can still bring it on board without enough batteries for 150% of your total flight time.

You’ll need to store any batteries you’re not currently using separately. Batteries should have a recessed battery terminal.

Delta’s Approved POCs

As of April 2023, Delta permits these POCs. However, always check Delta’s approved POCs before traveling. If your FAA-approved POC isn’t on this list, Delta asks that you contact them for approval.
