Smaller and more compact seems to be the mantra of modern technology. There are smaller and more efficient versions of phones and computers coming out all the time. The more streamlined, the better, and the less energy used, the better. Technology in home oxygen concentrators is no different. There are two examples of how home oxygen concentrators can be smaller, offer powerful medical grade oxygen, all while using less electricity than older models.

Many people who need continuous flow oxygen can now enjoy smaller, more lightweight and energy efficient oxygen therapy from two of the newest home oxygen concentrators on the market: The Inogen At Home Oxygen Concentrator, and the Respironics SimplyFlo.

Here are their biggest advantages:

  • Updated systems consumes less electricity
  • Smaller usually means quieter
  • More options for placement in the home
  • Easily transported to another facility

Here we will go more in-depth with each model, so you can decide which one would be better for you.

Inogen At Home

This is the newest and most exciting of the small home oxygen concentrators!

Inogen has created fantastic portable models and is one of the most trusted oxygen concentrator manufacturers in the industry. The Inogen at Home is only 18 pounds and no bigger than one of the larger portable models on the market at a height of 16.5 inches, and a width of 13 inches.

It delivers up to 5 LPM (liters per minute) of continuous flow oxygen, with settings 1 – 5 (no half settings). It uses only 100 watts on the setting of 2 LPM, which is a 3rd of what many older, larger home oxygen concentrators are known for using.

Respironics SimplyFlo

This petite home oxygen concentrator is for those who need no more than 2 LPM of continuous-flow. These units are great for individuals who need to use a concentrator in unison with a CPAP or Bi-PAP device. Why use a larger and heavier home oxygen concentrator, when that’s all you need? The SimplyFlo only has 2 settings, but it weighs less than 9 pounds!

At the size of a mid-sized portable oxygen concentrator, it stands at just 10 inches high and 11.5 inches wide. You can easily place it on your nightstand while you use your oxygen while you sleep. It’s also incredibly quiet and uses a max of 120 watts.

These two mini home oxygen concentrators aren’t lacking in the power and features that the larger models have. They each have an average purity of 93% on all settings and are both incredibly quiet. With such great new advances in medical technology, we can only assume that maybe someday soon oxygen concentrators will be able to be held in your hand.
