With the rise in the popularity of portable oxygen concentrators, the number of different models, brands, and features available is also rising. Many of our customers zero in on the Philips SimplyGo and the Ingoen One G3 while searching a for a portable oxygen concentrator, and it can be tough to decide between these two units.

To help you make a selection that is best for your lifestyle we have compared two of our most popular concentrators the Respironics SimplyGo and Inogen One G3.

SimplyGo and Inogen G3 Oxygen Flow Settings

Of course, the first thing you want to look for in an oxygen concentrator is how it delivers and how much it delivers. The major difference between the two is that the Inogen One G3 offers only pulse dose operation, while the Respironics SimplyGo offers both pulse dose and continuous flow. G3 supports up to a setting of 5 on pulse dose. Whereas, SimplyGo supports up to a setting of 6 on pulse dose and 2 liters per minute on continuous flow.

If you currently require a unit that provides continuous flow 24/7 or you are looking for a unit that will cover your daytime and nighttime needs, the all-purpose Respironics SimplyGo should be considered. If you are looking for a concentrator that will help you get out-and-about and the pulse dose delivery covers your oxygen needs, the popular Inogen One G3 should be considered. If you couldn’t eliminate one based on these features, we have compared more features.

Respironics SimplyGo vs. Inogen One G3 Portable Oxygen Concentrator

Weight and Size

Because the Respironics SimplyGo portable oxygen concentrator offers continuous flow, it is larger than the Inogen One G3 (it is about double in weight at 10 pounds compared to Inogen One G3’s 4.8 pounds). Both units come with a convenient carrying bag; the SimplyGo also comes with a carrying cart to compensate for its weight. Based on the feedback from some oxygen users, some feel that any weight carried is too much – even five pounds – and they prefer a unit with a cart.

Battery Life

Both of these units can operate on battery power and come with car and home adaptors. The Inogen One G3 has a longer life as well as the capability to operate two battery sizes. Inogen One G3’s larger (16-cell) battery can last up to 8 hours at a pulse-dose setting of 2. In contrast, the Respironics SimplyGo offers only one battery option, lasting about 3 hours at a pulse-dose setting of 2 and about 1.6 hours at a continuous-flow at 1 LPM. The Respironics SimplyGo does offer a higher oxygen output (2000 mL/min vs. the Inogen at 1050 mL/min), which is why the battery life isn’t as robust.

Choosing between the two POCs comes down to examining their differences: if you require continuous-flow oxygen, want a unit that covers your daytime and nighttime needs, and want a more robust unit, choose the Respironics SimplyGo. 2. Why is there no cost comparison? That would be one of the main factors in choosing one machine over the other.

  4. I own two Inogen G3 units. My wife and I are snowbirds and I use them when traveling over night from our homes. I love both units. They are efficient and quiet operating.

  5. I recently got an Inogen G3 & simply love it! No more bulky tanks to carry & change! I will say the accessories like back packs & car chargers are ridiculously prices! $45 for a car charger & $100 for a back pack! Heavens for $3000 you would think they more than make reasonable profit! However it is so nice to get out & not panic over getting oxygen on a simple trip shopping! I am so glad & love the long battery life! Now I can’t imagine my life without it!
