Inogen G3 and Inogen G4 Oxygen Flow Settings
Although the G3 and G4 Inogen models have similarities, there are a few significant differences. Both of these portable oxygen machines offer a pulse dose method of delivering air. This mode conserves oxygen, and it has a number of settings depending on your needs.
The Inogen One G3 offers settings from 1-5; the Inogen One G4 only has settings 1-3. Having multiple settings is helpful for those who have a variety of activities they need oxygen for, as the settings “can deliver the proper amount of oxygen during all phases of daily activity and rest”.
Weight and Size
Both portable oxygen concentrators are under five pounds, although the G4 model weighs less than the G3. With a single (small), battery the G4 model weighs only 2.8 pounds; it weighs just 3.3 pounds with the 8-cell (large) battery. The G3 model weighs just under five pounds with the standard 8-cell (small) battery.
The two concentrators are relatively easy to carry while on the go, as they aren’t very big. The G4 model is about seven inches tall, six inches wide, and about three inches deep. The G3 model is a little more than eight inches tall, almost nine inches wide, and three inches deep.
Battery Life
The life of your machine during each use will depend on the battery it houses and the setting you use it on. The Inogen One G3 concentrator has two options: 8-cell (small) battery or 16-cell (large) battery. Although this machine is under five pounds with the 8-cell, it will weigh more with the 16-cell. However, with the 8-cell battery, you get an average of 1.7 hours on setting five and an average of 4.5 hours on setting one. The length of battery life depends on which setting your machine is on, along with the size of the battery.
The Inogen One G4 also has two battery options the 4-cell (small) battery or the 8-cell (large) battery. With the 4-cell battery, the machine can last on average 1.2 hours on setting three and an average of 2.4 hours on setting one. Once again the length of battery life depends on which setting your machine is on, along with the size of the battery.

Both the G3 and G4 models are fairly quiet machines, with 39 decibels for the G3 and 40 for the G4. The noise level is comparable to the sound of a “quiet conversation.” The G3 model comes with a carry bag that has a strap on it. The G4 model has a strap on the machine, along with a separate carry bag.
