We understand that oxygen equipment specifically, portable oxygen concentrators are not for every budget so buying pre-owned can be a great alternative, if you’re buying from a reputable dealer. So, we’re going to go behind the scenes here at American Medical and show you how we test every certified pre-owned oxygen concentrators.
Unfortunately, medical products can harbor harmful bacteria, so when we receive a new machine, we thoroughly clean and disinfect the unit. It’s worth noting that household chemicals won’t necessarily clean the machine thoroughly; we use hospital grade cleaning supplies. Units need to be thoroughly cleaned and left to dry before moving forward.
Units go through a series of tests to ensure that they are working properly. Although most units will alarm when something major is malfunctioning some machines will not fail even though their oxygen purity levels are below where we’d like them to be. We do additional testing to make sure that the oxygen purity level is exactly where it should be.
If you’re buying a used unit, it is important that you make sure you buy a machine that is functioning properly and is outputting the correct oxygen purity. It is good to note that it is not good for units to just be left sitting, so statements such as the unit “was hardly ever used” is not necessarily a good sign.
We test all our batteries for life testing lithium-ion batteries will lose their juice over time. We want to make sure we test them, and they’re maintaining a charge of 80 percent or better just like the machine it’s not great for a battery to just be sitting and not being used.
Every machine is sold with a standard set of accessories with it. Even when you buy pre-owned, we make sure we package the pre-owned package just like a new package. If you buy a pre-owned machine and you’re missing these key components, it can often cost you one to two hundred dollars to replace on your own.
Lastly, and maybe most importantly we want to clarify the remaining warranty on the machine. Most manufacturers only provide a manufacturer’s warranty to the original owner of the machine or the original retailer of the machine. We verified directly with the manufacturer what remaining warranty is left on each pre-owned machine that we sell.
We want you to know that every pre-owned machine that comes through our building here has been thoroughly cleaned and tested. Hi. My father purchased a portable oxygen concentrator in 2013 or 2014 and has since passed away. I would like to be able to donate or have the machine refurbished for someone else to be able to use. The best way to facilitate this is to go through our buyback program.
