“I just got my Invacare Perfecto 2. I want to make sure it lasts me a long time, and I was wondering about the best ways to care for it. The user manual explains what needs to be done to maintain the Invacare Perfecto 2, but I was wondering what are the best things to use to clean it, when should order a new filter, etc. I was also wondering how it works when it comes time for the maintenance that I can’t really do myself. Thanks. – Rebecca J.”
Thanks for your questions, Rebecca! The Perfecto 2 was a great choice, because of how low maintenance it is.
Cleaning and Replacing the Inlet Filter
You’ll need to do change or clean the inlet filter, which is easily accessible. It’s located on the back of the machine, and all you do is push down on the tab to pop it out. Make sure the machine is off before you do this. You can clean the inlet filter with a mild detergent and water. Even a generic hand soap will work fine. Just a small drop of Dawn dish soap will do well to clean a heavily soiled filter.
Be sure to let it dry thoroughly, or use a hair dryer to dry it quicker. You should replace this filter every 4 months, and clean it no less than once a week. You can also use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dirt or dust if there is only a little bit of dust or dirt present. You might need to do it more often than that, depending on the air quality. You should go ahead and order more than 1 inlet filter, so you don’t forget to get more when the time comes to replace it.
Cleaning the Cabinet
You should clean the outside of the cabinet every week or so, to reduce the build-up of dust and other air impurities. If you don’t, it will be harder to clean later. Again, you can use Dawn dish soap and a soft lint-free cloth to wash it. Use a clean damp cloth to wipe away the soap so there’s no residue left behind.
Cleaning the Humidifier
The thing you’ll have to do the most to maintain an Invacare Perfecto 2, is clean the humidifier every day after you use it. Use a drop of Dawn and warm water to wash it. Mix 10 parts water to 1 part vinegar and use this solution to rinse it, to eliminate and prevent any traces of mildew.

What about the HEPA filter in the back behind the inlet filter? How or when o you replace or clean it?
The HEPA filter is a non-cleanable filter that the manufacturer recommends replacing every two to three years.
I don’t understand the blue tags. Do you remove them or what? I have an invacare perfecto 2 concentrator.
