Launched in April 2017, the Philips DreamStation Go is a positive airway pressure (PAP) device. It is one of the smallest available on the market and providing portability to those suffering from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

What Is a PAP Machine?

A PAP machine is different from an oxygen concentrator in that it provides pressurized air to a sleeping patient, not supplemental oxygen. When a patient has sleep apnea, he or she will stop breathing regularly during the night; this can be caused by a relaxation of the throat muscles (obstructive) or, less commonly, faulty signals from the brain that fails to instruct your body to breathe (central).

A PAP machine pushes air into the patient’s airways, opening up the throat and allowing him or her to breathe normally throughout the night. There are several types of PAP machines, but continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is the most commonly known. Other PAP machines include automatic (APAP) and variable (VPAP).

Portability of the DreamStation Go

Made by Philips, the DreamStation Go is half the size of the company’s other PAP machines but still provides the same power. It is ideal for traveling, as it weighs just 1.86 pounds and measures 2.3 inches high by 5.9 inches wide and 5.9 inches long.

One of the best features of the DreamStation Go is its portability: not only is it ultralight and small enough to fit in any carry-on bag, but it’s also made for traveling. With an integrated USB charging port, you can charge other devices such as a cellphone while you sleep (and keep your other outlets free).

Sleeping with the DreamStation Go

The optional overnight battery, when set at 10cm of pressure, displayed an average run time of an exceptional 13 hours. This means that you can finally take that trip off the grid, go camping in the middle of the woods or simply get back in touch with nature.

The DreamStation Go is also FAA-approved, so you can take it as far away from home as you want. Always remember to check with your airline before making your way to the airport, as each carrier may have different rules regarding flying with an oxygen machine (no matter how small it is!).

Power of the DreamStation Go

The DreamStation Go is available in either a CPAP model or an auto-titrated APAP model, and features the following specifications:

Pressure Range: 4-20 cm H20
Pressure Relief: C-Flex, C-Flex+, A-Flex
Maximum Altitude: 7500 feet (2286 meters)

The included micro-flexible tubing is one of the smallest and lightest available on the market, which allows for a more comfortable night’s rest. The DreamStation Go is also compatible with many masks so you can choose the one that’s most comfortable for you. This tubing is not compatible with climate control features of other PAPs.

The machine is also Bluetooth-enabled, which allows data to be shared with Philips’ DreamMapper application. The application lets users monitor their sleep therapy across multiple devices, which can be helpful when using more than one machine.

Sleep apnea shouldn’t hold you back from experiencing life. With the DreamStation Go PAP machine from Philips, you can rest easy no matter where you travel.

  1. Everyone is asking about price and we see we won’t get the answer here. It obviously depends on various factors like need and what the customer wants. I wish the description and information is very complicated and confusing, and seems somewhat contradictory. Guess I must talk to agent live in real time for answers.

    • Sleep therapy and oxygen therapy are complicated issues and do require a bit more information sometimes and are very dependent on the individual patient needs. Please feel free to give us a call at 888-360-9628 for more information.
