An In-Depth Review of the Respironics SimplyGo Portable Concentrator

The Respironics SimplyGo portable concentrator is an innovative unit that simplifies the care and management of oxygen therapy users. The Respironics SimplyGo, like all portable oxygen concentrators, provides pulse dose delivery of oxygen up to 6 liters per minute. However, unlike other POCs, or portable oxygen concentrators, the unit also delivers continuous flow of 2 liters of oxygen per minute. This unique feature sets the SimplyGo apart from other POCs on the market, making it a great choice for almost all oxygen users.

Overview of the Respironics SimplyGo

SimplyGo Appearance:

The Phillips Respironics SimplyGo portable oxygen concentrator features an attractive design. The sleek, white outer shell of the machine was designed to keep the SimplyGo from looking clinical. The SimplyGo is made of durable plastic, and features rounded corners. At just six inches deep, the Respironics SimplyGo POC has a small footprint, allowing it to blend easily into the surroundings of your home or be inconspicuous while you’re away from home.

The matte white plastic casing of the SimplyGo has an easily accessible slot to insert the lithium-ion battery at the back of the unit. The SimplyGo comes with a shoulder bag and is designed for use both in and out of the bag. The custom carrying case fits over the oxygen concentrator allowing easy access to the display and control panel. The SimplyGo also features a sturdy wheeled cart, giving you plenty of options for how you carry your POC.

Really great!

I've had my SimplyGo for a few years now and I've been very happy with it. The battery duration could be better, because I have to use 1.5 LPM continuous flow. I'd recommend it just for the light weight and easy portability.

For a Portable Oxygen Concentrator that can deliver both pulse dose flow oxygen and continuous flow oxygen, the SimplyGo weighs only 10 pounds with the included lithium ion battery. The unique feature of the SimplyGo to deliver continuous flow oxygen makes it one of the only portable oxygen concentrators suitable for nearly all oxygen therapy users, including highly active patients. The unit provides you more freedom to live your life.

The SimplyGo's included lithium-ion battery offers up to 3.7 hours of battery life when fully charged and used on Setting 1 of the Pulse Dose Oxygen Delivery mode. Setting 1 in Continuous Oxygen Delivery mode will give you up to 2.3 hours of oxygen with a fully charged battery. Additional supplemental batteries are available for purchase and increase your range when on the go.

Philips SimplyGo In-Depth Review

The SimplyGo comes with an included AC power adapter for charging the batteries at home or away with a standard AC power outlet. A DC power adapter is also included with each SimplyGo basic package for use while in the car without depleting battery life.

Designed with portability in mind, the SimplyGo comes with an attractive carrying case that is designed to protect the SimplyGo. Respironics developed the SimplyGo for on-the-go patients. They kept durability and aesthetics in mind while designing this portable oxygen machine. The carrying case features a comfortable shoulder strap, and also attaches easily to the included carry cart, giving you options for how to carry your POC with you. The carrying bag also features a large accessory pocket with enough room for an extra battery, cannula, and chargers.

The Respironics SimplyGo is now FAA approved for travel on all US airlines. When used with the included car adapter to and from the airport, the battery life gives you the freedom to check-in, go through security, and take a flight of up to 2 hours. If you need to use a higher setting, plan on a longer flight, or expect delays, we recommend purchasing an extra battery to ensure continuous operation.

SimplyGo Controls

The SimplyGo concentrator features five large, easy-to-read button controls on the top of the machine. The custom carrying case keeps the controls and display easily accessible if you need to change settings or check battery status. The power on/off button quietly and quickly turns the machine on and off. An alarm silencer allows you to quickly and discretely manage your oxygen needs. The display is bright and clear making it easy to read. It displays the battery level, settings, and mode and has a pleasant blue glow when you press the backlight button. The light makes it very easy to read in the dark or direct sunlight. The SimplyGo has a large mode select button to change between pulse dose oxygen delivery, continuous flow oxygen delivery, and sleep mode. The simple plus and minus buttons easily turn oxygen flow up or down depending on your needs.

Respironics SimplyGo Controls and Display

The Respironics SimplyGo's lithium ion battery is easy to install. With the battery slot located at the top, back of the machine, the battery can be inserted without removing the machine from the carry case. Additional batteries can be stored in the included accessory case.

Maintenance of the Respironics SimplyGo requires replacing the filter. The SimplyGo does not have a washable filter, only an internal filter. The internal filter should be replaced approximately every 1-2 years, based on your usage and settings.

Great machine!

I have had a Simply go for the past three years and use it every time I leave the house. It rides on the console in the car, on the floor next to me in the RV and on the boat. I plug it into the cigarette lighter to keep the battery charged. Over time I have purchased 3 extra batteries which covers my out door extended activities. Gives the mobility that almost matches what I had before COPD.

I cannot figure out how to change the filter on the Simply go. There isn’t a visible compartment like on other concentrators. Thank you!

The filters have to be changed at an authorized repair center, and as a result they do not require regular changing. Please feel free to give our specialists a call at 888-360-9628 or email [email protected] for more assistance.

If plugged into car and being used constantly while driving ours is beeping low charge. Does it need to be fully charged by direct power before using in vehicle. The icon shows it is being charged in car ( i switched to different car outlets while car on } but all the power is going to concentrate and not build
up reserve. Is this correct. thank you

If you are running it in the car with the battery in, the car is not producing enough power to charge the battery and run the unit, so the unit is running on the battery. We would want to verify that the car runs the unit without the batter in the unit – if the unit cannot run without the battery in the car a new DC cord needs to be purchased. If it does run then the DC is fine and the unit is getting enough power to turn on. From there the issue is probably the car does not produce enough power to run the unit and charge the battery – which the battery can be removed and if the unit runs without issue the problem was just not enough power to do both; however in the SimplyGo the unit relies on the battery to act as a resistor so prolonged use without the battery in the unit will eventually damage the electrical components.

my batteries last no more than 40 minutes on 6; does that mean they are not good batteries given the "specs" above, i.e., Setting 6: 1.9 Hours
