Servicing and Maintenance for the SeQual eQuinox

The Equinox is one of the newest and most exciting portable oxygen concentrators to be released by Sequal, the same brand that created the wonderful Eclipse series. Who knew they could improve on something like the Eclipse? The Equinox has the same wide range of oxygen settings as the Eclipse, with more features you've never seen before, and at just 14 lbs!

Your Equinox will keep working at peak performance and continue delivering the same high purity of oxygen, but you will need to do a few things periodically to keep it running smoothly. The Equinox is a robust machine, but just like with any other oxygen concentrator, or any other high tech electronic machine, it needs to be serviced and maintained.

You'll be able to find instructions for taking care of your Equinox in the owner's manual when you purchase it, but if you were wondering, here are the few and basic things you would need to do to take care of your SeQual Equinox.

Routine Maintenance

Once a year, you will need to send us your Equinox for a routine check-up. The internal components need to be checked to make sure they are working fine. Preventative maintenance is very important, because you don't want it to break while you are using it, or when you are on vacation, or some other very inopportune moment. You can schedule these routine maintenance and the alarms, internal filters, internal 9 volt battery and other internal parts can be checked and cleaned or replaced if necessary.

Cleaning and Replacing the Inlet Filter

The Sequal Equinox has an inlet filter, or a gross particle filter, which you will need to remove and clean once a week. This filter is the first filter ambient air passes through to be purified. It removes all the larger particles, such as pollen, mold spores, dust and other air pollutants. It's important to clean this filter often, because it quickly gets clogged up with impurities from the air around you. If it gets clogged up, it won't be able to bring in the oxygen you need.

Unplug the Equinox from its power source, or turn it off, and pull out the air inlet filter, which is located at the top center of the machine, right behind the handle. Clean it with mild detergent and clean water, and allow it to dry completely before putting it back into the machine. It's a good idea to have another spare filter on hand, to put into the machine and use while the other is getting cleaned. The air inlet filter should be completely replaced once a year.

Cleaning the Exterior

To keep the cabinet, or the outside of the Equinox clean, use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild detergent to wipe away spots, dirt and dust. Wipe over it with a cloth damp with just some water, and then dry it off with a dry lint free cloth. Wipe over the vents with a dry lint free cloth to clear away any build up of dust.
