You don’t even need to be the outdoorsy type per say, to appreciate your time in what has been dubbed “America’s Most Fun Town”. This place certainly lives up to its nickname, and if you use oxygen therapy on a regular basis, you can have just as much fun.

One such oxygen therapy patient is Gloria P. of Aspen, Colorado, which is a little less than an hour away driving distance from Glenwood Springs. Gloria loves visiting Glenwood Springs, and has been there on numerous occasions, so she’s our tour guide and oxygen therapy advice giver for using a portable oxygen concentrator while having fun in America’s Most Fun Town.

If you have COPD, you should always strive to eat healthier to fuel your body and help keep your immune system, lungs, heart, and brain function in tip-top-shape.

These alternatives are different from what you might be used to, but they definitely don’t lack in flavor. Your body will thank you later because of the added vitamins and nutrients.

User Perspective: A Users Experience with Oxygen on a Trip to London

Who would want to miss an opportunity to go to one of the most interesting, oldest and most famous cities in the world? Not very many people, that’s for sure. London, England is a city with a lot of history and cultural significance. Sure they speak English and if you’re an American going to London, you don’t really have to learn basic words in a different language to find the nearest restroom or to order from a menu. However, it’s very different nonetheless!

Dale R. has been using a mobile oxygen machine for a little over 4 years, and he’s very glad he converted from tanks when he did. Dale shares with us his adventures in London, and offers some tips on traveling abroad and through this city while using his portable oxygen concentrator.

What is a Pediatric Flow Meter?

A pediatric flow meter is an extremely important piece of medical equipment, for the dosing of oxygen and air for young patients. Children, especially very small children and babies, can’t handle the same amount of air or oxygen that adults or bigger kids can. A pediatric flow meter uses a reduced amount, and brings the dosage down to a small fraction of what it would have been for an adult.

A flow meter has a knob that can be turned to turn on the flow of oxygen and adjust the setting via the dosage range scale on the front. A small float indicator ball will go up and down as your adjust it.

Swimming While Using an Oxygen Concentrator

Of course, like many electronic pieces of equipment, it can’t get wet. Not only is it dangerous, but it will cause the machine to malfunction or stop working. Swimming while using an oxygen concentrator seems to be completely out of the question. But just like with all things, where there is a will, there’s a way!

Before you jump into a pool while using your oxygen concentrator, listen to the story of one man who does it without hurting himself or ruining his expensive piece of oxygen therapy equipment. User Perspective: Going to a Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium

The highly successful football team, the Dallas Cowboys, have fans from all over the country, not just Texas! They’ve been to the Superbowl 8 times and hold the record for the most consecutive winning seasons, so it’s no wonder they have been so well loved for so long. If you’re a fan of the Cowboys, whether you go way back or if you have a new-found appreciation for them, seeing them play on their home field is something you will have to experience.

Vincent G. AKA “Uncle Vinny” isn’t originally from Dallas or Arlington, or even from Texas. He’s a Pennsylvania transplant who moved to Dallas when he was 30 for a new job offer. He never left and said that he fell in love with Texas, and has been a raving Cowboys fan since before he moved. Uncle Vinny was diagnosed with severe emphysema when he was 59 and now uses a portable oxygen concentrator. Uncle Vinny has a few things to say about going to a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium while using oxygen.

Ways to Deal When COPD Gets in the Way of Everyday Things

Having COPD often means you can run into some difficulties in everyday life, just doing normal things like eating or sleeping. It can be hard to anything when you can’t catch your breath, or when the simplest things get you winded.

There are some ways around these issues, however, and you can use them to adapt and cope.

When you get short of breath during a meal…

This can happen because your stomach is pushing up against your lungs, which are likely enlarged slightly from being damaged. Even if they aren’t enlarged but you’re out of breath, eating can make you feel even more out of breath because as you eat, your stomach is pressing against your diaphragm.
